The Dr. D Y Patil Prathisthan’s flagship college, the D Y Patil College of Engineering (DYPCOE), started operations during the year 1984 from Pimpri in Pune in India’s Maharashtra state. Later, in the year 2001, the College premises shifted to Akurdi that is near to Pune’s Industrial area and one of Asia’ largest industrial areas, Pimpri-Chinchwad. The College campus spans over 30 acres of land, conducting courses in 7 Engineering disciplines.
The College has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Also, the center is affiliated with the ‘Savitribai Phule Pune University’. Moreover, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) have awarded ‘A’ rank to the College.
The aspirants who are looking to gain admission in the College should know that the DY Patil College of Engineering admission procedure is conducted on the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) or management quota basis.
As per the India Today Ranking 2017, the DY Patil College of Engineering ranking in India is pegged at 23rd Rank; and in the West Zone, secured 4th Rank rank.
The College offers a Wi-Fi enabled campus that is fully-equipped with modern infrastructure, in addition to residential facilities for pupils who hail from outside Pune. Also, there are well-qualified faculty members to mentor the student towards fulfilling their career aspirations. On a regular basis, the students’ performance is assessed to provide any additional guidance, if required. With the objective of enhancing the employability of the students, the College partakes in the Infosys Campus Connect Foundation Programme that is an initiative of Infosys Company, too. Moreover, the students are encouraged to take part in the Sae India’s Supra event under which cars are manufactured and put on display.

Under the DY Patil College of Engineering courses, the students can specialize in the fields of Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering.
Bachelor of Computer Engineering
The College’s BE (Computer) program is a 4-year, full-time courses. As part of the course’s curriculum, the center organizes many workshops, industrial visits, project competitions, social activities, seminars, guest lectures, and group discussions. Moreover, the students are trained to devise software systems across all domains.
Bachelor of Information Technology
The College’s full-time BE (IT) course runs for 4 years. Through this course, the students become familiar with an array of computer applications, and are groomed into proficient technocrats, for serving the needs of the IT industry. Indeed, there are studies suggesting that the demand for IT professionals is going to rise steadily in the subsequent years; therefore, the center exposes the students to the latest technologies for keeping up with the ever-changing IT scenario under this course.
Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering
The BE (Mechanical) courses that the College conducts is a 4-year and full-time program. During this program, the students are trained on various mechanical engineering concepts where learning at laboratories is an integral part of the course syllabus. Also, the course students can avail value-added services such As CATIA, Autodesk, MatLab, Seed Infotech, and Six Sigma – among others. Hence, they can upgrade their skills for fulfilling their career aspirations.
Bachelors in Electronics & Computer Engineering
The DYPCOE’s BE (E&CE) course entails teaching the basics of the Electricals field in the initial semesters, and advances to the newest trends during the latter ones. The center actively engages the pupils in mini-projects for a broader understanding of the subject’s principles under this program. Through training on software programs and programming languages that are imparted via this course, the pupils become eligible for employment in companies under the IT sector.
Masters in Civil Engineering
At DYPCOE, the aspirants interested in applying for the 2-year, full-time Master in Civil Engineering course have a choice between the fields of Construction & Management and Environmental Engineering. Under this course, the students are offered career guidance, value-added programs, guest lectures, expert lectures, site visits and a series of training programs.

D.Y. Patil College of Engineering Akurdi hostels aims at providing superb facilities to its scholars coming from different corners of the country. Shree Adaya Hostel is for boys’ scholars and Sri. Rajrajeshwari Hostel is for girls’ scholars. The girl's hostel has 167 rooms and accommodates 590 students whereas the boy's hostel has 160 rooms and accommodates 475 students.
D.Y. Patil College of Engineering hostel rooms are spacious and well-ventilated. Each hosteller is provided with a bed, a chair, a table, and a cupboard. Separate washrooms are available for different rooms.

Stationed on over 30 acres of land, the DY Patil College of Engineering campus is developed in an eco-friendly manner - lined with trees and surrounded by lush greenery for giving the much-needed respite during the breaks from academics. Also, the College campus is strategically located and is near Akurdi Railway Station.
The students’ lives at the College include active participation in sports and recreational activities that are an integral part of the center’s training. There are arenas for both indoor and outdoor games to reduce stress and maintain the pupil’s mental, physical balance. Moreover, through partaking in sports, the pupils will not feel isolated, and is in line with the center’s philosophy ‘Sports for networking’.
Other facilities that are provided as part of the DY Patil College of Engineering infrastructure are computer centers, tech-savvy seminar hall (called as Shantai Auditorium), language laboratory, amphitheater, fully-equipped conference room (Dnyanaprasad Sabhagruha), shuttle service, eateries, and sports arenas.
